TYPES OF HAZARD/ EXPOSURE ACUTE HAZARDS/ SYMPTOMS PREVENTION FIRST AID/
FIRE FIGHTING
FIRE Combustible. Liquid formulations containing organic solvents may be flammable. Gives off irritating or toxic fumes (or gases) in a fire.
NO open flames. NO contact with hot surfaces.
In case of fire in the surroundings: all extinguishing agents allowed.
EXPLOSION

EXPOSURE
PREVENT DISPERSION OF DUST! AVOID EXPOSURE OF ADOLESCENTS AND CHILDREN!

 •INHALATION
Local exhaust or breathing protection.
Fresh air, rest.
 •SKIN
Protective gloves.
Remove contaminated clothes. Rinse and then wash skin with water and soap.
 •EYES
Safety spectacles.
First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor.
 •INGESTION Diarrhoea. Headache. Nausea. Vomiting.
Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work. Wash hands before eating.
Rinse mouth. Induce vomiting (ONLY IN CONSCIOUS PERSONS!).
SPILLAGE DISPOSAL STORAGE PACKAGING & LABELLING
Do NOT wash away into sewer. Sweep spilled substance into sealable plastic containers; if appropriate, moisten first to prevent dusting. Carefully collect remainder, then remove to safe place. (Extra personal protection: P2 filter respirator for harmful particles).
Provision to contain effluent from fire extinguishing. Separated from food and feedstuffs.
Do not transport with food and feedstuffs.
Marine pollutant.

PHYSICAL STATE; APPEARANCE:
ODOURLESS, COLOURLESS TO YELLOWISH CRYSTALS.

PHYSICAL DANGERS:

CHEMICAL DANGERS:
The substance decomposes on heating or on burning and on contact with hot surfaces producing toxic and corrosive gases including phosgene (ICSC 0007) and hydrogen chloride (ICSC 0163). The solution in water is a weak acid. Attacks many metals in presence of water.

OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS:
TLV not established.

ROUTES OF EXPOSURE:
The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation of its aerosol, through the skin and by ingestion.

INHALATION RISK:
Evaporation at 20°C is negligible; a harmful concentration of airborne particles can, however, be reached quickly during handling.

EFFECTS OF SHORT-TERM EXPOSURE:

EFFECTS OF LONG-TERM OR REPEATED EXPOSURE:
See Notes.
PHYSICAL
PROPERTIES
Melting point: 117-118°C
Relative density (water = 1): 1.42
Solubility in water: none
Octanol/water partition coefficient as log Pow: 5.91
ENVIRONMENTAL
DATA
Avoid release to the environment in circumstances different to normal use.
N O T E S
The possible contamination with compounds which might be carcinogenic means that special care should be taken to avoid exposure. Other melting points: 114°C (technical grade). Depending on the degree of exposure, periodic medical examination is indicated. If the substance is formulated with solvent(s) also consult the card(s) (ICSC) of the solvent(s). Carrier solvents used in commercial formulations may change physical and toxicological properties. The recommendations on this Card also apply to esters of dichlorprop. Cornox RK, Hedonal DP are trade names. This card applies only to the substance itself, not to formulations. Formulations may be more hazardous to the environment than the pure substance.
