TYPES OF HAZARD/ EXPOSURE ACUTE HAZARDS/ SYMPTOMS PREVENTION FIRST AID/
FIRE FIGHTING
FIRE Flammable.
NO open flames, NO sparks, and NO smoking.
Powder, AFFF, foam, carbon dioxide.
EXPLOSION Above 54°C explosive vapour/air mixtures may be formed.
Above 54°C use a closed system, ventilation, and explosion-proof electrical equipment.
In case of fire: keep drums, etc., cool by spraying with water.
EXPOSURE
AVOID ALL CONTACT!

 •INHALATION Cough. Sore throat.
Ventilation, local exhaust, or breathing protection.
Fresh air, rest. Artificial respiration if indicated. Refer for medical attention.
 •SKIN Redness. Pain.
Protective gloves. Protective clothing.
Remove contaminated clothes. Rinse skin with plenty of water or shower. Refer for medical attention.
 •EYES Redness. Pain.
Safety goggles, or eye protection in combination with breathing protection.
First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor.
 •INGESTION
Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work.
Rinse mouth. Give plenty of water to drink. Refer for medical attention.
SPILLAGE DISPOSAL STORAGE PACKAGING & LABELLING
Collect leaking and spilled liquid in sealable containers as far as possible. Wash away remainder with plenty of water.
Fireproof. Separated from strong oxidants, strong bases, strong acids. Cool. Keep in the dark.

PHYSICAL STATE; APPEARANCE:
COLOURLESS LIQUID , WITH CHARACTERISTIC ODOUR.

PHYSICAL DANGERS:

CHEMICAL DANGERS:
The substance can presumably form explosive peroxides in contact with air. The substance decomposes on exposure to light and air. Reacts violently with strong oxidants, acids, and bases.

OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS:
TLV: 25 ppm; 133 mg/m3 (as TWA) (ACGIH 1997).
MAK: H,S (1996).
MAK: class IIIB (1996).
OSHA PEL: TWA 50 ppm (270 mg/m3)
NIOSH REL: C 5.6 ppm (30 mg/m3) 15-minute
NIOSH IDLH: 250 ppm

ROUTES OF EXPOSURE:
The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation of its aerosol.

INHALATION RISK:
A harmful contamination of the air will be reached rather slowly on evaporation of this substance at 20°C.

EFFECTS OF SHORT-TERM EXPOSURE:
The substance irritates the eyes, the skin and the respiratory tract.

EFFECTS OF LONG-TERM OR REPEATED EXPOSURE:
Repeated or prolonged contact may cause skin sensitization.

ENVIRONMENTAL
DATA

N O T E S
Explosive limits are unknown in literature, although the substance is combustible and has a flash point < 61°C. Check for peroxides prior to distillation; eliminate if found.
