•INHALATION	Burning sensation. Cough. Laboured breathing. Shortness of breath. Sore throat.	Ventilation, local exhaust, or breathing protection.	Fresh air, rest. Artificial respiration if indicated. Refer for medical attention.
•SKIN	MAY BE ABSORBED! Redness. Skin burns. Blisters.	Protective gloves.	Remove contaminated clothes. Rinse skin with plenty of water or shower. Refer for medical attention.
•EYES	Redness. Pain. Swelling of eyelids.	Face shield or eye protection in combination with breathing protection.	First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor.
•INGESTION		Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work.	Rinse mouth. Refer for medical attention.

Evacuate danger area! Consult an expert! Ventilation. Collect leaking and spilled liquid in sealable containers as far as possible. Absorb remaining liquid in sand or inert absorbent and remove to safe place. (Extra personal protection: complete protective clothing including self-contained breathing apparatus).

Separated from incompatible materials (see Chemical Dangers), food and feedstuffs. Cool. Dry. Keep in the dark. Ventilation along the floor.

Unbreakable packaging; put breakable packaging into closed unbreakable container. Do not transport with food and feedstuffs.

CLEAR, COLOURLESS LIQUID , WITH PUNGENT ODOUR.

The substance will polymerize under the influence of temperatures above 93°C. On combustion, forms toxic and corrosive fumes including nitrogen oxides and hydrogen cyanide (see ICSC 0492). The substance decomposes on contact with water to form amine and polyureas. Reacts violently with acids, alcohols, amines, bases and oxidants causing fire and explosion hazard. Attacks copper.

ROUTES OF EXPOSURE:
The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation of its vapour, by inhalation of its aerosol and through the skin.

INHALATION RISK:
A harmful contamination of the air will be reached rather slowly on evaporation of this substance at 20°C; on spraying or dispersing, however, much faster.

EFFECTS OF SHORT-TERM EXPOSURE:
The substance irritates the eyes, the skin and the respiratory tract. Exposure far above the TLV may result in respiratory sensitization.

EFFECTS OF LONG-TERM OR REPEATED EXPOSURE:
Repeated or prolonged contact may cause skin sensitization. Repeated or prolonged inhalation exposure may cause asthma (see Notes).

Immediate administration of an appropriate spray, by a doctor or a person authorized by him/her, should be considered. The symptoms of asthma often do not become manifest until a few hours have passed and they are aggravated by physical effort. Rest and medical observation are therefore essential. Anyone who has shown symptoms of asthma due to this substance should avoid all further contact with this substance. Workers exposed to this compound may be sensitized to other isocyanates (asthma). The odour warning when the exposure limit value is exceeded is insufficient. Do NOT take working clothes home. Desmodur H and Desmodur N are trade names.
