TYPES OF HAZARD/ EXPOSURE ACUTE HAZARDS/ SYMPTOMS PREVENTION FIRST AID/
FIRE FIGHTING
FIRE Combustible. Liquid formulations containing organic solvents may be flammable. Gives off irritating or toxic fumes (or gases) in a fire.
NO open flames.
Powder, water spray, foam, carbon dioxide.
EXPLOSION

EXPOSURE
PREVENT GENERATION OF MISTS! AVOID EXPOSURE OF ADOLESCENTS AND CHILDREN!

 •INHALATION Dizziness. Headache. Nausea.
Ventilation, local exhaust, or breathing protection.
Fresh air, rest. Refer for medical attention.
 •SKIN Redness.
Protective gloves.
Remove contaminated clothes. Rinse and then wash skin with water and soap.
 •EYES Redness.
Safety spectacles, or eye protection in combination with breathing protection.
First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor.
 •INGESTION (See Inhalation).
Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work. Wash hands before eating.
Rinse mouth. Rest. Refer for medical attention.
SPILLAGE DISPOSAL STORAGE PACKAGING & LABELLING
Collect leaking and spilled liquid in sealable containers as far as possible. Absorb remaining liquid in sand or inert absorbent and remove to safe place. Do NOT wash away into sewer.
Provision to contain effluent from fire extinguishing. Separated from food and feedstuffs. Ventilation along the floor.
Do not transport with food and feedstuffs.

PHYSICAL STATE; APPEARANCE:
COLOURLESS LIQUID , WITH CHARACTERISTIC ODOUR.

PHYSICAL DANGERS:

CHEMICAL DANGERS:
The substance decomposes on heating or on burning producing toxic fumes including nitrogen oxides and sulfur oxides.

OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS:
TLV not established.

ROUTES OF EXPOSURE:
The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation, through the skin and by ingestion.

INHALATION RISK:
A harmful contamination of the air will not or will only very slowly be reached on evaporation of this substance at 20°C; on spraying or dispersing, however, much faster.

EFFECTS OF SHORT-TERM EXPOSURE:
The substance may cause effects on the central nervous system.

EFFECTS OF LONG-TERM OR REPEATED EXPOSURE:
PHYSICAL
PROPERTIES
Boiling point: 232°C
Relative density (water = 1): 0.95
Solubility in water: none
Vapour pressure, Pa at 25°C: 4.5
Relative vapour density (air = 1): 6.5
Relative density of the vapour/air-mixture at 20°C (air = 1): 1.00
Flash point: 116°C o.c.
Octanol/water partition coefficient as log Pow: 3.20
ENVIRONMENTAL
DATA
The substance is harmful to aquatic organisms. Avoid release to the environment in circumstances different to normal use.
N O T E S
If the substance is formulated with solvent(s) also consult the card(s) (ICSC) of the solvent(s). Carrier solvents used in commercial formulations may change physical and toxicological properties. The relation between odour and the occupational exposure limit cannot be indicated. Alirox, Eptam, Eradicane, Genep, Niptan, Witox are trade names.
