TYPES OF HAZARD/ EXPOSURE ACUTE HAZARDS/ SYMPTOMS PREVENTION FIRST AID/
FIRE FIGHTING
FIRE Not combustible. Gives off irritating or toxic fumes (or gases) in a fire.

In case of fire in the surroundings: all extinguishing agents allowed.
EXPLOSION

EXPOSURE
PREVENT DISPERSION OF DUST! AVOID EXPOSURE OF ADOLESCENTS AND CHILDREN!

 •INHALATION (See Ingestion).
Local exhaust or breathing protection.
Fresh air, rest.
 •SKIN MAY BE ABSORBED!
Protective gloves. Protective clothing.
Remove contaminated clothes. Rinse and then wash skin with water and soap. Refer for medical attention.
 •EYES Redness.
Face shield, or eye protection in combination with breathing protection.
First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor.
•INGESTION Excessive salivation. Sweating. Visual disturbance. Diarrhoea. Dizziness. Headache. Laboured breathing. Nausea.
Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work. Wash hands before eating.
Rinse mouth. Refer for medical attention.
SPILLAGE DISPOSAL STORAGE PACKAGING & LABELLING
Sweep spilled substance into containers. Carefully collect remainder, then remove to safe place. Do NOT let this chemical enter the environment. (Extra personal protection: P2 filter respirator for harmful particles).
Dry. Keep in a well-ventilated room. In glass, high-density plastic, rubber or epoxy resin-protected metal containers.

PHYSICAL STATE; APPEARANCE:
COLOURLESS TO WHITE EXTREMELY HYGROSCOPIC CRYSTALS , WITH CHARACTERISTIC ODOUR.

PHYSICAL DANGERS:

CHEMICAL DANGERS:
The substance decomposes on heating producing toxic and corrosive fumes including nitrogen oxides , hydrogen chloride . The substance decomposes on heating with strong aqueous alkali solutions producing trimethylamine and other gaseous products. Attacks many metals in presence of water.

OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS:
TLV not established.
MAK not established.

ROUTES OF EXPOSURE:
The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation of its aerosol, through the skin and by ingestion.

INHALATION RISK:
Evaporation at 20°C is negligible; a harmful concentration of airborne particles can, however, be reached quickly by dispersion.

EFFECTS OF SHORT-TERM EXPOSURE:
The aerosol of this substance irritates slightly the eyes. The substance may cause effects on the nervous system: cholinergic symptoms without acetylcholinesterase inhibition (see notes).

EFFECTS OF LONG-TERM OR REPEATED EXPOSURE:
PHYSICAL
PROPERTIES
Melting point (decomposes): 245°C
Solubility in water: good (74 g/100 ml at 20°C)
Vapour pressure, Pa at 20°C: negligible
ENVIRONMENTAL
DATA
The substance is harmful to aquatic organisms. Avoid release to the environment in circumstances different to normal use.
N O T E S
Use of atropine as specific treatment is contraindicated. If the substance is formulated with solvent(s) also consult the card(s) (ICSC) of the solvent(s). Carrier solvents used in commercial formulations may change physical and toxicological properties.
