EXPOSURE
STRICT HYGIENE! AVOID EXPOSURE OF ADOLESCENTS AND CHILDREN!
IN ALL CASES CONSULT A DOCTOR!
•INHALATION Convulsions. Dizziness. Sweating. Nausea. Unconsciousness. Vomiting. Pupillary constriction, muscle cramp, excessive salivation.
Ventilation (not if powder), local exhaust, or breathing protection.
Fresh air, rest. Artificial respiration if indicated. Refer for medical attention.
•SKIN MAY BE ABSORBED! (Further see Inhalation).
Protective gloves. Protective clothing.
Remove contaminated clothes. Rinse and then wash skin with water and soap. Refer for medical attention.
 •EYES Blurred vision.
Face shield, or eye protection in combination with breathing protection if powder.
First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor.
•INGESTION Abdominal cramps. Nausea. Vomiting. Diarrhoea. Unconsciousness. (See Inhalation).
Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work. Wash hands before eating.
Induce vomiting (ONLY IN CONSCIOUS PERSONS!). Rest. Refer for medical attention.
SPILLAGE DISPOSAL STORAGE PACKAGING & LABELLING
Do NOT wash away into sewer. Sweep spilled substance into containers; if appropriate, moisten first to prevent dusting. Carefully collect remainder, then remove to safe place. Do NOT let this chemical enter the environment. Chemical protection suit including self-contained breathing apparatus.
Separated from strong bases, strong acids, food and feedstuffs. Keep in a well-ventilated room.
Do not transport with food and feedstuffs.

PHYSICAL STATE; APPEARANCE:
COLOURLESS CRYSTALS.

PHYSICAL DANGERS:

CHEMICAL DANGERS:
The substance decomposes on heating at approximately 160°C producing toxic and corrosive fumes including hydrogen chloride, phosgene, phosphorous oxides, nitrogen oxides, sulphur oxides. Reacts with strong bases, acids, amines. Attacks copper and brass.

OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS:
TLV: 0.2 mg/m3 A4 (skin) (ACGIH 1998).
MAK not established.
OSHA PEL: none
NIOSH REL: TWA 0.2 mg/m3 ST 0.6 mg/m3 skin
NIOSH IDLH: No data

ROUTES OF EXPOSURE:
The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation of its aerosol, through the skin, and by ingestion.

INHALATION RISK:
Evaporation at 20°C is negligible; a harmful concentration of airborne particles can, however, be reached quickly when dispersed and on spraying.

EFFECTS OF SHORT-TERM EXPOSURE:
The substance may cause effects on the nervous system , resulting in convulsions, respiratory failure. Cholinesterase inhibitor. Exposure far above the OEL may result in death. The effects may be delayed. Medical observation is indicated.

EFFECTS OF LONG-TERM OR REPEATED EXPOSURE:
Cholinesterase inhibitor; cumulative effect is possible: see acute hazards/symptoms.
PHYSICAL
PROPERTIES
Melting point: 41-42°C
Relative density (water = 1): 1.398 at 43.5°C
Solubility in water: none
Vapour pressure, Pa at 25°C: 0.0024
Octanol/water partition coefficient as log Pow: 4.96
ENVIRONMENTAL
DATA
The substance is very toxic to aquatic organisms. In the food chain important to humans, bioaccumulation takes place, specifically in fish and algae. The substance may cause long-term effects in the aquatic environment. Avoid release to the environment in circumstances different to normal use.
N O T E S
Depending on the degree of exposure, periodic medical examination is indicated. Specific treatment is necessary in case of poisoning with this substance; the appropriate means with instructions must be available. If the substance is formulated with solvent(s) also consult the card(s) (ICSC) of the solvent(s). Carrier solvents used in commercial formulations may change physical and toxicological properties. Do NOT take working clothes home. Dursban, Dowco 179, Eradex, Lorsban, Pyrinex, Coroban, Danusban, Terial are trade names.
