EXPOSURE
STRICT HYGIENE!

•INHALATION Sore throat. Cough. Dizziness. Headache. Laboured breathing. Unconsciousness.
Ventilation, local exhaust, or breathing protection.
Fresh air, rest. No mouth-to-mouth artificial respiration. Administer oxygen by trained personnel. Refer for medical attention.
 •SKIN Redness. Pain.
Protective gloves.
Remove contaminated clothes. Rinse and then wash skin with water and soap.
 •EYES Redness. Pain.
Safety goggles or eye protection in combination with breathing protection.
First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor.
•INGESTION Burning sensation. Abdominal cramps. Nausea. Diarrhoea. Vomiting. Shock or collapse.
Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work. Wash hands before eating.
Rinse mouth. Do NOT induce vomiting. Give a slurry of activated charcoal in water to drink. No mouth-to-mouth artificial respiration. Administer oxygen by trained personnel. Refer for medical attention.
SPILLAGE DISPOSAL STORAGE PACKAGING & LABELLING
Personal protection: filter respirator for organic gases and vapours. Do NOT let this chemical enter the environment. Collect leaking liquid in sealable containers. Absorb remaining liquid in sand or inert absorbent and remove to safe place.
Provision to contain effluent from fire extinguishing. Separated from acids, food and feedstuffs. Well closed. Keep in a well-ventilated room. Store in an area without drain or sewer access.

PHYSICAL STATE; APPEARANCE:
ORANGE LIQUID , WITH CHARACTERISTIC ODOUR OF ROTTEN EGGS.

PHYSICAL DANGERS:

CHEMICAL DANGERS:
The substance decomposes on contact with acids producing highly toxic and flammable hydrogen sulfide. Attacks metal. The solution in water is a medium strong base.

OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS:
TLV not established.
MAK not established.

ROUTES OF EXPOSURE:
The substance can be absorbed into the body by ingestion and by inhalation.

INHALATION RISK:
No indication can be given about the rate in which a harmful concentration in the air is reached on evaporation of this substance at 20°C.

EFFECTS OF SHORT-TERM EXPOSURE:
The substance is irritating to the eyes , the skin and the respiratory tract . Corrosive on ingestion. The substance may cause effects on the cellular respiration , resulting in convulsions and unconsciousness . Exposure may result in death. Medical observation is indicated. See Notes.

EFFECTS OF LONG-TERM OR REPEATED EXPOSURE:
PHYSICAL
PROPERTIES
Relative density (water = 1): 1.28
Solubility in water:
miscible
ENVIRONMENTAL
DATA
The substance is very toxic to aquatic organisms.
N O T E S
This substance forms hydrogen sulfide in stomach. Specific treatment is necessary in case of poisoning with this substance; the appropriate means with instructions must be available. The substance is combustible but no flash point is available in literature. Environmental effects from the substance have not been investigated adequately. Lime sulfur is a trade name.
