FIRE Not combustible. Gives off irritating or toxic fumes (or gases) in a fire.

In case of fire in the surroundings: use appropriate extinguishing media.

EXPOSURE
PREVENT DISPERSION OF DUST! STRICT HYGIENE!

 •INHALATION Laboured breathing. Wheezing.
Local exhaust or breathing protection.
Fresh air, rest. Half-upright position. Refer for medical attention.
 •SKIN
Protective clothing.
Remove contaminated clothes. Rinse and then wash skin with water and soap.
 •EYES
Face shield or eye protection in combination with breathing protection.
First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor.
 •INGESTION In sensitized individuals minute quantities may lead to serious effects. (Further see Inhalation).
Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work. Wash hands before eating.
Refer for medical attention.
SPILLAGE DISPOSAL STORAGE PACKAGING & LABELLING
Sweep spilled substance into containers; if appropriate, moisten first to prevent dusting. Wash away remainder with plenty of water. Personal protection: P2 filter respirator for harmful particles.
Separated from strong oxidants, acids. Dry.

WHITE CRYSTALS OR POWDER.

CHEMICAL DANGERS:
The substance decomposes on heating and on burning producing toxic and corrosive fumes ( sulfur oxides ). The substance is a strong reducing agent and reacts with oxidants. Reacts withstrong acidsto produce toxic sulfur dioxide.

The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation and by ingestion.

EFFECTS OF SHORT-TERM EXPOSURE:
Inhalation of this substance may cause asthma-like reactions.

EFFECTS OF LONG-TERM OR REPEATED EXPOSURE:
Repeated or prolonged contact may cause skin sensitization. Repeated or prolonged inhalation exposure may cause asthma (see Notes).

This substance may be hazardous to the environment; special attention should be given to aquatic organisms.
N O T E S
Immediate administration of an appropriate inhalation therapy by a doctor or a person authorized by him/her, should be considered. The symptoms of asthma often do not become manifest until a few hours have passed and they are aggravated by physical effort. Rest and medical observation are therefore essential. Anyone who has shown symptoms of asthma due to this substance should avoid all further contact with this substance. Card has been partly updated in April 2005.
