FIRE Not combustible. Gives off irritating or toxic fumes (or gases) in a fire.

In case of fire in the surroundings: use appropriate extinguishing media.

EXPOSURE


 •INHALATION Cough. Laboured breathing.
Ventilation, local exhaust, or breathing protection.
Fresh air, rest. Half-upright position. Artificial respiration may be needed. Refer for medical attention.
 •SKIN Redness.
Protective gloves.
Remove contaminated clothes. Rinse and then wash skin with water and soap.
 •EYES Redness. Pain.
Safety goggles.
First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor.
 •INGESTION Abdominal pain. Nausea. Vomiting. Diarrhoea.
Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work.
Rinse mouth. Induce vomiting (ONLY IN CONSCIOUS PERSONS!). Give plenty of water to drink. Refer for medical attention.
SPILLAGE DISPOSAL STORAGE PACKAGING & LABELLING
Personal protection: P3 filter respirator for toxic particles. Sweep spilled substance into containers; if appropriate, moisten first to prevent dusting. Carefully collect remainder, then remove to safe place. Do NOT let this chemical enter the environment.
Separated from food and feedstuffs . Store in an area without drain or sewer access.
Do not transport with food and feedstuffs.

The substance may have effects on the respiratory tract , resulting in chronic rhinitis and chronic bronchitis.

The symptoms of lung oedema often do not become manifest until a few hours have passed and they are aggravated by physical effort. Rest and medical observation is therefore essential. Health effects of exposure to the substance have not been investigated adequately. See also ICSC 0455 (Vanadium trioxide) and 0596 (Vanadium pentoxide). Ammonium metavanadate NH4VO3 has CAS 7803-55-6 and UN 2859, ammonium polyvanadate has UN 2861.
